Billy Boy on Poison are a really great band from LA, signed to Kiefer Sutherland’s Ironworks label. Their sound is reminiscent of The Stooges, The Strokes and The Vines – with a little bit of soul thrown in via lead singer Davis’ voice! In other words, it’s gooooood.
Big things are starting to happen for these guys and Apex is stoked for them – Kiefer directed the video for their single ‘On My Way’, they’ve toured with Stone Temple Pilots, their single is being picked up on radio all over the country and it’s kind of hard to miss them on TV, because their song is on every single commercial/promo for HBO’s Entourage.
Be sure to keep an eye on these guys, they’re definitely a band to watch! (and yeah, full disclaimer, we’re working this project). Make sure to check these guys out live, they’re equally impressive playing plugged in and crazy as they are playing an intimate acoustic set.
Check out the video for ‘On My Way’ below – their debut album, Drama Junkie Queen, drops July 7th!
I don’t know where this Kung Fu Panda poster is and I’m not sure who is behind it, but whoever you are, give yourself a well deserved pat on the back because this is awesome.
Ahhh, the dreaded walk of shame. Some of you people know it all too well!
But thanks to this new(ish) commercial for AMP Energy drink, you don’t have to be ashamed anymore when you make that wrinkled, disheveled, hungover walk home!
This is one of the best commercials I’ve seen in a long time and all I can say is that AMP (and BBDO) certainly knows who their target demographic is!
I’m finally going to see WALL-E tonight and I can’t wait!
Besides being the cutest robot around, WALL-E makes the best (and most adorable) sound effects ever! Here are a few reasons why you must see this movie too:
“The idea that a company in the business of mainstream entertainment would make something as creative, substantial and cautionary as “WALL·E” has to raise your hopes for humanity.” – Washington Post
“We’ve grown accustomed to expecting surprises from Pixar, but “Wall-E” surely breaks new ground.” -NY Times
“This is getting to sound like a broken record: Pixar Animation Studios has just topped itself.” -Hollywood Reporter
How can you deny a platinum record to a man with that album cover. Seriously, you just can’t. L’il Wayne. As a baby. In a blazer. With face tats. Umm, adorable?!
Lil Wayne’s been all over the news this past week because his album, Tha Carter III, just sold over 1 million units in its first week. That’s pretty huge, considering the last album to go platinum in its first week was 50 Cent’s The Massacre in 2005.
I get it, Lil Wayne’s a hard worker….he’s been busy promoting and hyping this last album for the last 3 years now. And I’m not trying to take away from his success here, but it’s a bit underwhelming that this guy (watch the video) is probably going to have the best selling record of the year. I’m just saying.
I spend my days here at Apex trolling the internets and stumble across all sorts of things. And when I happen to stumble across technology sites, something always seems to blow my mind…and thus, the creation of this weekly post. Here goes.
It’s just a concept idea right now, but some guy created an electronic tattoo display/blue tooth device that runs on blood. *Hmm, creepy!
The Swiss invented a car that runs on land and underwater called the sQuba. There’s a very James-Bond inspired video of it too. *But they made it a convertible, how impractical!
An artist named Paul St. George made a telectroscope that when you look through its lens in NYC you can see all the way to London! *The NYC lens is conveniently located around the corner from Apex Headquarters, so I’m making a pit stop there after work. I’ll let you know how it goes.
