It seemed like every time I read a headline this week, my only reaction was confusion and disbelief at how strange people can be. Some crazy stuff went down, so this week’s Funsize Friday has been postponed for a more appropriate title.
- Sorority Branding Pledges with a Hot Fork? – Are you serious? Also, worth reading just for the phrase “…causing our sisters to obviously react and throw her head into the wall.”
- Austrian Man Jails Daughter, Fathers Her 7 Children – Honestly one of the most depressing things I’ve read.
- Someone Is Shooting Seattle’s Pidgeons Through the Head with a Blow Gun – The picture really shows you ever thing you need to see.
- 7 Year Old Charged with Grand Theft Auto – Apparently stealing your grandmother’s Durango and hitting 4 cars is “unusual behavior for a 7-year-old.” No kidding? And speaking of grand theft auto…
- Grand Theft Auto 4 Released This Week – So THAT’S what caused all this mayhem. We didn’t mention it much here because everyone and their brother seemed to be talking about it already. We figured it was pretty well covered.

- New NIN Single – Trent Reznor pulls a… Trent Reznor and unceremoniously ships a single to radio and makes it a free download the day after it’s finished. At least the guy is keeping busy.
- PENIS THEFT! – 13 suspected sorcerers arrested in Congo for allegedly “stealing or shrinking” several men’s “special purposes.” That’s so crazy, it could never happ-OMG WHAT HAPPENED TO ME?!?!
- Pirate Bay Reaches 12 million users – I’ve got mixed feelings about this. Sure, it’s great that the Creative Commons movement has taken off, but it does kind of amount to mass theft. Speaking of the Pirate Bay and bittorrents…
- GTA IV Leaked a week early – Pre-release leaks have become common in the music industry, but seeing it on such a mass level for video games is certainly interesting. Thankfully, I’m not picking up GTA4 next week because I like actually leaving my apartment every once in awhile.
- Rush Limbaugh calls for riots at Democratic Convention – Really? Sometimes stuff like this gets taken out of context, but I’m pretty sure implying that a riot isn’t such a bad thing isn’t something you want to say on the air.
Funsize Bonus The world’s most annoying song – I’m proud (I think?) to say I listened to the entire thing. Lemme tell you, it’s pretty much an endurance test.
Funsize Bonus Bonus! The Dancing Outlaw – Trust me. It’s worth watching. The inspiring story of Jesco White, a tap-dancing, Elvis-impersonating West Virginian. Or, watch a 12-second summation of the whole thing.

- Cracked.com Says “Eat Shit, Webbys!” – Cracked.com gets passed over for a Webby, and they’re not happy about it. I Can Has Cheezeburger funnier than Cracked? Fureelz? Naw, man.
- Democratic Debates This Week, The Clear Loser: ABC News – I’ll admit I watched some of this and was pretty shocked at how bad most of the questions were. Then again, we do know what issue is most important to voters this election.
- M83 – Graveyard Girl – (Pitchfork.tv link) It’s like a mini John Hughes movie and officially my personal Jam of the Summer ’08. Secondly, I finally got a chance to play with P-fork.tv and have decided it’s completely awesome.
- Ricky Gervais to be in GTA IV – As a huge fan of the UK Office and Extras, this news pleases me.
- Leaked Trailer for new Star Wars cartoon – Considering Episode II was entirely CGI in the first place, this really doesn’t look too different, just less Ewan McGregor.
- South Park Fixes the Internet – It really does work just like that. I’m glad to know the interwebs are controlled by a giant linksys router.

Grand Theft Auto 4 comes out April 29th, and it’s going to be massive. Viral marketing is everywhere, lawsuits will soon be flying, and everyone and their brother will (hopefully) be buying it.
Also coming out around the same time is the highly anticipated Iron Man movie. No relation? Think again, say some analysts. Apparently, Hollywood blamed Halo 3 for poor box office numbers last September, and that was for a game on one major system, while GTAIV is coming out for both the Xbox 360 & PS3.
Either you side with the millionaire turned hero/robot or join the obsessive video game fans, one thing is certain come May – the nerds win.
By the way, if you haven’t seen it yet, the new trailer for Iron Man looks amazing. I think Robert Downey Jr. might be my new personal hero.
