Whoa There Airport Security!

02.11.2008

As I enjoyed my first cup of coffee in front of the old boob tube this morning, I was taken aback by a story I heard on CNN.

Apparently, at airports nowadays, in addition to searching your bags, the airport now reserves the right to search your laptop. In fact, airport personnel can go so far as to copying your hard drive. Eeks!

How this is legal, I have no idea, but it certainly is an invasion of privacy. Police need a search warrant and probable cause to search your house but the airport can do whatever it wants? Hmmm. As a person that works on the internet, my computer and I are pretty much attached at the hip. I’ve got a tooooon of stuff/junk on my computer, none of which the airport should legally have access to.

Raise your hand if this makes you not want to travel!
